GENERAL KNOWLEDGE FOR THE DENTAL HYGIENIST

Updated: Jun 20, 2020

It's always easy to get set in your ways, and eventually years pass and sometimes you forget the basic things - don't sweat it.

I have added this page for important articles/notes that we should re-read every once and awhile! Please take into consideration that every Country, state, province is slightly different and I am coming Ontario, Canada.

Keep in mind that with COVID -19 things are changing at a progressively fast rate and to always go to your college for questions, advice and direct information. This site and page is for educational/personal purposes only and to help fellow hygienists learn, and keep the conversation and research going.

COVID19 - CDHO GUIDELINES RETURNING TO PRACTICE

This post will include but is not limited to:

COURSES I TAKE YEARLY:

1. AODA

2. CPR

3. Dental WHIMIS

4. Safety in the Work Place

5. First Aid every 3 years

^The link above: Record Keeping, PSR Debate, Full mouth probing, Blood Pressure, Recommending, Prescribing, Dispensing, Selling and Using Drugs in Practice - keep in mind this article is from 2015.

***(Personally called CDHO and they stated as long as your CPR is not expired it's fine, he did not give a clear answer though - but if your employer wants you to take it, then you should - so I just do it yearly for my own sanity.)
